March 21, 2024 – Really, Aren’t We All Concerned?
I am especially concerned with the group that claims tooffer only truthful facts, and then throws stuff out there at the concerned public and it ends up is all bologna!! I don’t care to take any more time than is needed merely to make my point. I will not dwell on one subject, because quite frankly, I don’t thrive on drama and I really do have better things to do.
But my concern is about those amongst us who say THEY are concerned. Are they MORE concerned than you and I are? Must be, ‘cuz they go out of their way to be sure people hear only the things that are on their agenda. Why, they initially offered a candidate forum (TO ONLY THEIR SELECTED CANDIDATES). (Ooops! That didn’t work! Did it?? Wise people saw through it – and had to remind toy
what “Open forum” really means… and you had to ask everyone else.
OK. Rookie mistake!)
I’ll try to keep this short. My story goes like this…I was walking through
my social media, and poofff! A post on “Concerned Citizens…”
with my name in it, and took me totally by surprise. This post hit social media only one hour after I visited the city clerk office – to take papers out to run for alderman again in the 7th district. (had been alderman previously for 14 years and got lotsa stuff done for my neighbors. Just ask them).
Let’s pick this FB rant apart a bit…for the sake of truthfulness
and clarity.
Take all the shots you wish at PFC. I lived it with 4 other members – all
entrusted with making decisions to get things back on track: 1) after internal issues turned up with a department head in our charge; 2) a city finance
director “assured” PFC there was enough money, “and then some” to enter into an agreement to expand the ambulance service. HE was wrong. 3) the same finance director did not give PFC a projection – or get approval from CC – for as many as 5 years as to how much the city needed to budget to cover “write-offs” (something that had always been done prior). THEN, 4) the NEW finance director tells PFC the account was 300K in the hole! And that was the end for the new firefighters which had just been hired. 5) Finally, the PFC met with the CC to discuss this, and rather that coming right out and pointing out that the CITY Finance Director did this, and the City Finance Director did not do that… I prefaced the meeting with the CC by saying, “we’re not pointing fingers, but…”. We knew! And when it was all said and done, after much consternation everyone knows what we know now. IT WASN’T THE PFC!!! But who still takes the blame for it?
“No one goes from mayor back to alderman…” Doesn’t matter that he might just want to stay involved??? Personal agenda??? DAH! Funny!!!
I was going to run again because I wanted to. There are 10 people on the council. Not much just one person can do all by his lonesome to advance a “personal agenda”!!
“Big city revenge politics“. WHAT is up with that??? Adult conversation??? (Like hiding behind an anonymous FB post – with no mention of who the author is?? “Page Administrator”? “Author”? “Anonymous”? Why, it could be anybody. (MO? TK? MJW?) Providing at least initials would be better than nothing.
Then there’s …”…little popularity and credibility he has left with city employees“. WOW, if that isn’t the pot calling the kettle black! It was only months ago these same “concerned citizens” – who make up a handful of the present council – commissioned a “satisfaction survey” of all city employees. Only to find out when it was completed, FOUR PER-CENT OF CITY EMPLOYEES SUPPORT RECENT CITY COUNCIL DESICIONS. Well, let’s just leave that one alone. We won’t ask about that anymore…we’ll just put it up on a high shelf, so everyone will forget about it.
FINALLY – my favorite was this…”You don’t even bother to get your own signatures on that paperwork. You send out people to get them for you. 20 signatures. An hour listening to the people of your district. Just didn’t see the need to put in the work“.
WHY IS THIS MY FAVORITE?? WHERE do you come up with this stuff?? This is clearly but another of a long line of OUTRIGHT LIES this funky group of wannabees want you to believe, offered by the anonymous administrators who are posting things like this every day hoping you will believe it. If they lie about this, wouldn’t you think they’d lie about everything else they are posting?? Just saying… WHY DO I TAKE ISSUE, AND WHAT PROOF DO I HAVE THAT IT’S ALL ANOTHER BIG LIE!!!! Because – I never had to circulated a single paper, or obtained a single signature – or had someone obtain them for me – as they would have you believe!!! Admittedly, I was in the deep depths of a traumatic personal tragedy (and fair warning my friend, you would be wise to leave that one alone) at that same time, but I had my witts about me enough to pull back on my (honest) desire to stay involved. But I decided, instead that life is much too short (my brother was proof) and the city will get along quite well without me.
There are other things I can do. I love local history stuff and writing stories about local history and making presentations onlocal history. I maintain a huge (HUGE) historic pictures collection.
W A I T !!!!WHY.…I COULD MAYBE EVEN START UP MY WEB PAGE AGAIN LIKE I DID IN THE 90’S AND EARLY 2000.
